As a software developer at YourSurprise, you’ll join a fun, passionate and multidisciplinary team of around 30 software developers. Knowledge sharing is of great importance to us, we have a weekly meeting with all developers to facilitate this, together with a bi-weekly meeting where we showcase our current projects and the latest (technological) developments.
The team is divided into smaller, autonomous teams, which we call space ships. Every space ship is responsible for a specific domain within our company. Space ships consist of developers and a mix of colleagues from other teams.
We build our own software: whether it’s building online gift personalisation software, automatically processing our purchase orders (based on an in-house developed machine learning model), working on our own webshop (online in 29 countries) or automating machines and printers on our production floor - we’ve got a great job for you.
What you’ll be doing
Because we develop most of our software ourselves, we have a wide variety of work. Your work will be tailored to what you can do and what you like.
Among other things, in the near future we will be working on implementing personalized content throughout the website, developing a completely new CRM system, ensuring that every employee is able to configure the website content perfectly, further integrating with Google Cloud and streamlining our 'internal logistics' system.
We use a wide variety of techniques and programming languages, including PHP (Symfony), TypeScript (React, Vue), NodeJS and Python. For each project we look at which programming language and frameworks are most suitable to use.
What we expect from you
We expect you to be eager to learn and to be motivated, with some experience with the aforementioned programming languages. In addition, we are looking for people with a degree of independence who can work well within a team.
What we offer
Choose your own new laptop: Macbook Pro or Dell with Linux;
No hassle with 'billable hours', 'hourly billing' or customers who don't want to pay for a much needed upgrade from PHP 5.3 to a slightly newer version;
A unique team spirit: we organize our own hackathons, LAN parties, Meet-ups (https://www.meetup.com/yoursurprise/), visit conferences and occasionally invite a software guru for a private workshop. In addition, we like to have a drink as a team and you have a free afternoon every other week in which you can work on your own skills: for example by following an online course or by working together with a colleague on your own project.
